The Cybersecurity AAS aims to equip students with a foundational understanding of information security principles, practices, and technologies. The program focuses on developing skills to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks across various digital environments. Students learn to use industry-standard cybersecurity tools and techniques to protect networks, systems, and data from threats and vulnerabilities. In addition to technical proficiency, the program emphasizes the importance of ethical considerations and legal responsibilities in the cybersecurity field. This program aligns students for the following industry professonal certifications: CompTIA A+, Security+, Cloud+, Linux+, Pentest+ and CySA+. At Lake Michigan College, hands-on learning opportunities are provided online and in computer labs using both physical and virtual hardware and software. In addition, students build important soft skills such as interpersonal communications, problem-solving, team-building, and project management.
